POLICIES

Am I a good candidate for Microblading?

  • Oily Skin: Microblading heals best on normal to dry skin types. Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and more powdery than you would expect. For oilier skin types I often recommend a powder brow for best healed results and longevity.

  • Facial fillers, Botox, and other similar injectables may cause your brows to appear uneven or crooked if booked too closely to your brow appointment due to the injected product settling and your brows healing. I suggest to all clients that leave two weeks between botox and having their brows done.

  • Microblading is not meant to entirely replace makeup. Eyebrow pencils and powders may still be needed so please consider this when making the decision to have your eyebrows tattooed.

Factors that may affect your tattoo:

  • Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will greatly affect how your body retains pigment

  • Sun exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading

  • Color of pigment: Lighter colors fade more quickly than darker colors

  • Skin Care Products: Exfoliating products (typically for Acne or Anti-Aging) will cause pigments to fade

  • Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as everyone retains and breaks down pigment differently. During your 6-8 week touch-up appointment we assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary.

  • People with lighter hair, correction work, or sparse eyebrows may require more than one follow-up to reach their desired look.

DOES IT HURT?

Generally, no. Each person has a pain threshold, but consistent application of anesthetic typically keeps clients very comfortable. If you do not respond to numbing agents, there can be some discomfort.

I have had my eyebrows tattooed before, can you go over them?

Brow coverups must be pre-approved before booking. Please email a photo in natural light. If your tattoo is very dark and I don't think I can adequately correct or cover it up, I may recommend removal. Additional sessions may be needed for coverup work.

Are cosmetic tattoos painful?

Like all tattoos, there is typically a small level of discomfort, but consistent application of anesthetic typically keeps clients very comfortable. Numbing cream is used to minimize any pain, but there may still be points throughout the procedure particularly towards the end that the area can be particularly sensitive and feel a little like sunburn.

Someone else has done my eyebrows, can you go over them?

Brow coverups must be pre-approved before booking. Please email a photo in natural light. If your tattoo is very dark and I don't think I can adequately correct or cover it up, I may recommend removal. Additional sessions may be needed for cover-up work.

POLICIES

How long does microblading last? Will my cosmetic tattoo be semi-permanent?

While the pigment used in cosmetic tattooing will lighten and shift in color slightly over time, they are permanent in the sense that pigment will not disappear entirely. There is a certain amount of maintenance required in cosmetic tattooing to refresh color and detail. For eyebrows, color tends to cool down over time (ashy color) and future touch ups may be required to warm the color back up. Eyeliner tends to require less maintenance as it is most often black used and the eyelid skin is very thin - this is the most permanent of cosmetic tattoos. Lip blush fades over time and maintenance appointments are suggested every 2 - 3 years.

POLICIES

Why do I need two appointments?

All permanent makeup services are a two-step process, where a second appointment is necessary to visibly assess how your color and shape looks healed and make any changes. This gives us the opportunity to add volume, darken the color or refine the shape, and touch up light areas as needed. Retention can vary from person to person, though most clients only require two appointments, a third appointment is sometimes required to achieve the desired look.

What is the difference between microblading and machine or powder brows?

Microblading is a method of cosmetic tattooing done by hand that creates individual hair strokes to mimic the look of eyebrow hairs. Powder brows are done with a tattoo machine and creates a soft, powdered look that mimics the look of a soft powder on your brow. While microblading is only suitable for specific skin types, machine shading is suitable for all skin types and has more longevity.
